Once the wife of that Brahmin went to the city to ask for charity. But no one in the city gave her charity that day because she was childless. At the same time, on asking for donation, a person advised that Brahmin’s wife to worship Maa Kali. After this the Brahmin couple did the same and worshiped Mother Kali for sixteen days.
After which Mother Kali herself appeared, the mother gave her the boon of having children and said that according to your ability, you should light a flour lamp every full moon and increase one lamp each full moon. You must light all 22 diyas till Cancer Purnima. According to the goddess, the Brahmin plucked a mango from a mango tree and gave it to his wife for worship. After which his wife became pregnant.
With the blessings of the Goddess, a son was born to that Brahmin, who was named Devdas. When he grew up, he went to Kashi to study. His maternal uncle also went with Devdas. An incident happened with both of them on the way. After which Devdas got married happily. Whereas Devdas had already told that he is short-lived. But still her marriage was forcibly done, after some time the time came to kill her but due to the full moon fast of the Brahmin couple, Kaal came. Nothing could harm him.
