About Lohri Festival :
'Lohri' is a famous festival of Punjabi people. The people of Punjab celebrate Lohri with utmost zest every year on 13th January. It is celebrated in North India especially in the States of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Jammu. It is believed that the festival is celebrated on the day when days start becoming shorter and the nights start becoming longer. It is is celebrated on the 13th day of January which falls in the month of Paush or Magh according to Hindu Calendar. Lohri festival marks the culmination of winter. This festival is celebrated as the harvest festival and on this day people light bonfire, sing and dance in joy to pay respect to the Dulha Batti. The main theme of Lohri is the belief that Lohri is the cultural celebration of the winter solstice. ©
