About Onam :
Onam is an annual Hindu holiday and festival with origins in the state of Kerala in India. It is a harvest festival and is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm all over the state by people of all communities. It is the state festival of Kerala and falls during the month of Chingam according to Malayalam Calendar. Onam festival is connected with the legend of King Mahabali who ruled over Mahabalipurum in ancient times. The 10 days of Onam festival is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm. On this day, Malayalees believe that the great king Mahabali visits everyone’s home. Men and women wear traditional dress.
