Bhai Dooj is a Hindu festival celebrated in India and Nepal. Bhai Dooj is the festival of Hindu religion celebrated on the second day of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month which is also known as Yama Dwitiya. The rituals and celebrations on this day are similar to popular celebrations such as 'Raksha Bandhan. This festival is celebrated two days after Diwali. This festival is based on the love of brother and sister. On this day, the tika ceremony is performed by the sisters for their long life by their brothers and gifts are exchanged. Bhai Dooj is a festival based on brother-sister relationship, which is celebrated with great reverence and mutual love. In Bengal, Bhai Duj is called Bhai Phota, where the sisters fast for the day, until the phota or the Tialak ceremony is over and pray for their brother's long life.
