Majuli festival is celebrated in the district of Majuli, which is the biggest river island in the world. The Majuli festival is always held during the winter season, in the month of November. This festival starts on the 21st of November each year and continues to the 24th of the same month. A number of cultural programmes are organized during the festival by a number of cultural groups of Majuli as well as from other parts of the state of Assam. It is celebrated at Garamur, located at a distance of 1.5 km away from the sub-divisional headquarter of Majuli, on the banks of the river Luit. It is a religious festival observed by the Hindu community of Assamese society.
