Arudra Darshan is a Hindu festival celebrated in the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Arudra Darshan is celebrated in the Tamil month of Margazhi coinciding with December–January. Arudra darshan is celebrate the "lord nataraja"the cosmic dance of lord shiva. This festival is also observed with great enthusiasm in lord shiva temples. Arudra Darshan is also known Thiruvathira. The occasion of Arudra Darshan highlights Lord Shiva’s enormous capabilities and powers. The festival is a major occasion of celebration in the Shiva temple located in the city of Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu, where there is a shrine dedicated solely to Lord Nataraj. On the day of Arudra Darshan, wake up in the early morning and take holy bath in a holy river or home chanting the names of holy rivers. On the next day morning, the fast is broken along with other Shiva devotees after seeing Lord’s darshan once again.
