Champa Shashti is a very famous festival especially celebrated with great fervor in the state of Maharashtra. Champa Shashthi is celebrated on the Shashthi date of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month. Champa Shashti is a six-day festival which is meant for worshipping Lord Shiva. The festival is dedicated to Khandoba or Khanderao , an incarnation of Lord Shiva. It is believed that there is happiness in life by fasting Champa Shashthi. Devotees who celebrate Champa Shashti with dedication are believed to be blessed by the deity who protects them from all the evils and fears. The highlight of the Champa Sashthi puja is visiting the temple of Khandoba in the early morning on all the six days, starting from no moon day to Champa Sashti. It is believed that by observing this fast, the sins of the previous birth are washed away and the life ahead becomes happy.
