Mokshada Ekadashi is a Hindu holy day, which falls on the 11th lunar day of the fortnight of the waxing moon in the Hindu month of Margashirsha, corresponding to November–December. Gita Jayanti is also celebrated on the day of Mokshada Ekadashi. It is believed that by fasting on this day, man attains salvation by the bondage of movement of the world, hence its name is Mokshada Ekadashi. Mokshada Ekadashi is also referred as ‘Mauna Ekadashi’ and devotees on this day observe ‘mauna’ all day long. On this day, the avatar Krishna is also worshipped. Devotees properly observing the fast are believed to attain moksha after death. After morning bath, worship Lord Krishna along with Lord Vishnu with incense, lamp and basil.
