Chitra Pournami is an Indian festival celebrated by Tamil Hindus. It is observed on the day of the full moon in the month of Chithirai or Chaitra, corresponding in the Gregorian calendar to a day in April or May. Sun and moon and their movements are closely linked with many of the traditional practices, rituals, worships, vrats, events, festivals and celebrations in the Hindu tradition.
