Shabari Jayanti is celebrated on the second day of the Krishna Paksha of Phalgun or February-March month according to the Hindu calendar. Shabari is an elderly Bhili woman ascetic in the later versions of the Hindu epic Ramayana. She is described as an ardently devoted woman who received Rama's darshan and blessing due to her Bhakti to him. Shabri jayanti is also considered as important because on this day Lord Ram used to eat his false plum. Several devotional and cultural programs mark the celebrations of the Shabari Jayanti.
