Surdas Jayanti celebrates the birthday of glorified soul Surdas who is believed to be blind but he was glorified for his work. Surdas was a 16th-century blind Hindu devotional poet and singer, who was known for his lyrics written in praise of Krishna. They are usually written in Braj Bhasha, one of the two literary dialects of Hindi. The birth anniversary of Sant Surdas is observed as per Hindu lunar calendar and falls on Shukla Paksha, Panchami in Vaishakha month or usually in the month of May.
