Jhulelal Jayanti is the most famous festival in Sindhi society, mainly celebrated in Jhulelal temples. Baba Jhulelal is also known by some of the names such as Laal Sai, Udero Lal, Varun Dev, Dulah Lal, Dariya Lal and Zinda Peer. For Sindhi Hindus, Jhulelal is a name that refers to the Ishta Dev (most-revered deity) of Sindhi Hindus, who regard him to be an incarnation of the Hindu deity Varuna. The chant Jhule Lal Jhule Lal is considered the "clarion call" of Sindhi Hindus. The festival date is based on the lunar cycle of the lunisolar Hindu calendar, it being the first day of the year and the Sindhi month of Chet (Chaitra).
