Sharad Purnima is a popular Hindu festival. Sharad Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day in Ashwin month of the Hindu calendar. Sharad Purnima is also known as Kojagari Purnima or Ras Purnima. Sharad Purnima is also celebrated as Kaumudi festival. This is done because it is believed that on this day, the moon with its rays drops nectar on the earth. Lakshmi is worshiped on Sharad Purnima on the day of Sharad Purnima. On this day, making Kheer in the night and keeping it under the open sky, consuming it in the morning, all diseases are cured. Sharad Purnima in Bengal is called Kojagori Lakshmi Puja. It is called Kojagari Puja in Maharashtra and Sharad Poonam in Gujarat.
