Guruvayur Ekadashi is observed in the famous Sri Krishna Temple at Guruvayur in Kerala. Guruvayur Ekadashi is also known Vrishchika Ekadasi. It is observed in the Vrischikam month as per traditional Malayalam calendar. On the whole day of Ekadashi, the temple remains open for the devotees. This is also the only Ekadasi when Guruvayur temple is kept open for devotees, starting from the morning of dasami to the closing hours of dwadasi. On Ekadasi, the next day, they have to maintain a complete fast and engage in prayers and meditation of Lord Narayana. The fast is broken on Dwadashi day by visiting Vishnu temple. Devotees who can’t visit the temple should take a bath early morning and offer prayers to Lord Vishnu in their homes by lighting a lamp.
