Durga Balidan is an important ritual Durga Puja which is observed on the day of Maha Navami. Durga Balidan falls on the very next day of the Maha Navami and as per the Hindi calendar this date is said to be on Uday Vyapini Navami Tithi.

It is mentioned in the Scriptures that in Kaliyug animal sacrifice is not prescribed. In India, ritual of animal sacrifice is practised in many villages before local deities or certain powerful and terrifying forms of the Devi. Durga Balidan is performed on Navami only. This ritual should always be observed on Uday Vyapini Navami during Aparahna Kaal.
