Hariyali Teej's Vrat Katha: Story of Hariyali Teej
The
story of Hariyali Teej is as follows: Shiva says, 'O Parvati! a long time ago
you probably did extreme tenacity on the Himalayas to urge me as a groom.
During this point, you had to go away from the food-grains and spend the day
chewing dried leaves. no matter the weather, you meditated continuously. Seeing
this situation of yours, your father was very sad and angry. In such a
situation Naradji came to your house.
When your father asked him the cause for his arrival,
Naradji said- 'O Giriraj! I even have come here after sending Lord Vishnu. Pleased
together with your girl's severe penance, he wants to marry her. I would like
to understand your opinion about this. On hearing Naradji, Parvatraj said with
great pleasure- O Naradji! If Lord Vishnu himself wants to marry my daughter,
then nothing is often more important than this. I'm ready for this marriage.
Shivji tells Parvati Ji, 'Naradji, after getting the
approval of your father, visited Vishnu and told this good news. But once you
came to understand about this marriage, you were very sad. You had considered
me Kailashapati Shiva as my husband.
You told your distraught mind to your friend. Your friend
suggested that she is going to hide you by taking you to a pouring forest and
by staying there, you ought to do meditation to urge Shiva. After this, your
father was very worried and sad about not finding your reception. He started
thinking that what would happen if Vishnu brought a procession and you probably
did not meet at home? They made you search the world in search of you, but
you'll not be found.
You were absorbed in my worship inside a cave in the
forest. You worshiped Shravan Shukla by constructing a Shiva lingam from
the sand. so that I fulfilled your wish by being happy. After this you told your
father, 'Father! I even have spent an extended time of my life within the
penance of Lord Shiva and Lord Shiva has accepted me by being pleased with my
penance. Now I will be able to walk with you on an equivalent condition that
you simply will marry me with Lord Shiva only. Parvat Raj accepted your wish
and took you back home. After some time, he married us with complete law and
order.
Lord Shiva said after this, 'O Parvati! Shravan Shukla
Tritiya, the fast you performed by worshiping me, resulted in the marriage of
both of us. The importance of this fast is that I give desired results to each
woman who observes this fast with full devotion.
