The Srimallikarjuna temple in Andhra Pradesh, generally known as Kailash in South India, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. This Jyotirlinga is located on a mountain named Srisailam on the banks of Krishna River. Srisailam mountain lies in the middle of dense forests called Nalla-Malla in Kurnool district. Nalla Malla means lovely and elevated.
On the excessive peak of this mountain, Lord Shiva sits as Shri Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga. The Jyotirlinga located in the Mallikarjuna temple is among the many 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and out of the 12 Jyotirlingas, Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga is considered because the second Jyotirlinga.

One has to reach via dense forests. To reach the temple Jyotirlinga is reached by road via dense forests. This route goes via about 40 kilometers inside. Due to the passage via dense forests, it's forbidden to enter the forest area after 6 pm and its gates are reopened only after 6 am. Just a few kilometers after crossing this wooded path, there's a strong jalaveg falling from a top of 290 meters from the Shail dam. There is an inflow of tourists and visitors to see this jalaveg.
