Padmini Ekadashi Vrat Katha
In the Treta Yuga, there was a mighty king Keetravirya. This king had many queens however the king didn't get a son from any queen. Being childless, the king and his queens lived unhappily despite all of the comforts. The king then went to penance together with his queens, wishing to have kids. Whereas doing penance for hundreds of years, only the bones of the king remained, but his penance couldn't succeed. The queen then requested Goddess Anusuya the treatment. Devi asked him to watch the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha in Mal Maas.
Anusuya also advised the queen to fast. The queen then kept the Padmini Ekadashi fast according to the law of Goddess Anusuiya. At the end of the fast, God appeared and asked for a boon. The queen said to God, Lord, if you're proud of me, give me a boon instead of me. The Lord then asked the king to ask for a boon.
The king prayed to God to grant me a son who is full of all virtues who are respected in all three worlds and isn't defeated by anybody other than you. God said goodbye and left. After some time the queen gave birth to a son known as Kartavirya Arjuna. Sooner or later of time, this child turned a very powerful king who had taken Ravana as a prisoner.
It's mentioned that Lord Krishna first made Arjuna aware of its significance by narrating the story of Purushottami Ekadashi fast.
