Due to public welfare, supernatural work and miraculous powers, the native people began worshiping Ribhubai by the name of Karni Mata.
Karni Mata is also the Kuldevi of Bikaner royal family.
It is stated that Karni Mata lived for 151 years. Currently, Karani Mata used to worship her Ishta Devi in a cave the place this temple is located. This cave continues to be located in the temple complex.It is stated that Karni Mata was jyotirlin on 1538. After he became Jyotirlin, devotees began worshiping him by installing his idol, which is still continuing. Karni Mata can also be the Kuldevi of Bikaner royal household.
It is stated that the princely states of Bikaner and Jodhpur had been established with his blessings. The present temple of Karni Mata was built by Maharaja Ganga Singh of the princely state of Bikaner in the early twentieth century.
