Laxmi Narayan Temple: Golden Temple
Thirumalai Kodi, 7 km from Vellore in Milanadu has a Sri Lakshmi Narayani temple made of gold. It's known as the Golden Temple of South India. 1500 kg of gold has been used in it.A statue of Lord Narayana and Goddess Lakshmi is installed inside the main temple. Talking about the history of this temple, this temple was originally built by Veer Singh Dev in 1622, after which Prithvi Singh renovated it in 1793. In 1938, the Birla Group, a big industrial family in India, expanded and revived it.Speaking about its structure, this temple is constructed within the Orion type. The outside of the temple is manufactured from white marble and crimson sandstone, paying homage to the Mughal type. The temple has two-storey verandas on three sides and gardens and fountains in the rear.
