From the point of view of international tourism, Bodhgaya is the most famous place in Bihar. That is the one place in Bihar that is among the two World Heritage Sites. This place is very revered for Buddhists as a result of, at this place, Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. This factor belongs to the 6th century, because of which, even today, for about 2700 years, this place is seen as a revered place. Bodhgaya is located around the Mahabodhi Temple.
The Buddhist communities right here, originally from diverse Buddhist nations, have settled right here. As a result of which, you get a glimpse of internationalism within the city of Bodh Gaya, compared to which the rest of the state is typical rustic.
Mahabodhi Temple - World Heritage Site
Mahabodhi Temple is the tallest temple in Bodh Gaya, which you'll see from any corner of the town. There are also many small structures round this tall structure. As soon as you enter the premises of the temple, you will note the bookstore and many extra shops that appear to be selling various works of art.On your way of the main entrance of the temple, you have to go through a security scanner and as you proceed from here, in front of you stands the grand and delightful structure of the Mahabodhi Temple.
The shikhara of this temple is brown in shade and the peaks of different small structures surrounding it are pink and golden yellow. The quiet mudra statue of Buddha welcomes you as soon as you enter the main temple right here.
Just above this statue is a particular kind of wood piece which is carved with nice beauty. The higher ground of the Mahabodhi Temple is now closed, but till just a few years ago guests were allowed to visit here.
Stupas of Mahabodhi Temple
Outside the main temple here you will see thousands of stupas of various sizes and types that are made of stone. When asked about these stupas from the people there, we were advised that these stupas have been built by those that come again to visit the Mahabodhi temple after completing their vow.But I really feel as if some of these stupas will need to have been excavated from this place and they would have been erected at almost the same place. them looks like they're very ancient. There are lots of of small plastic cups round every stupa, which are full of water and each cup has a marigold flower floating in it.
The partitions of this temple are decorated with small statues of Buddha and Bodhisattvas. A lot of the statues of Buddha are within the touch of the ground, through which the Buddha was seated at the time of enlightenment. There are many such websites within the premises of this temple, that are associated with the process of enlightenment of Buddha.
Today the forests round this temple for protection aren't as good a reproduction of its original type. Their original form is maintained on the native museum here. The Mahabodhi Temple flashes with laser gentle at night, which additional enhances its beauty.
Mahabodhi tree - Bodh Gaya
Just behind the Mahabodhi Temple, i.e., near the wall of the again of the temple, is the Bodhi tree, under which the Buddha attained enlightenment. But the tree that exists right here today is the fifth generation of its original tree, which was introduced again to Bodh Gaya from Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka.Near this tree is the place of Vajrasana, the place Buddha was seated with meditation. You can comfortably benefit from the atmosphere right here by sitting within the premises surrounding this tree. Devotees who come here to see God are seen worshiping this tree with nice reverence. The sanctity of his reverence can be felt by seeing his leanness in devotion to God.
Ashoka Pillar in Bodh Gaya
The location of Vajrasana situated under the Bodhi tree has been preserved in a very good way. He's covered with curtains for his safety, due to which it's a little difficult to get a full glimpse of him.Apart from this, this place is located between the temple wall and the Bodhi tree, because of which your view is further hindered. This tree stands so near the wall of the temple that even thinking about it seems a bit worrying.
On one side, where this tree is surrounded by the wall of the temple, on the other aspect there are safety curtains. Do not know how this tree breathes on this tight environment.
A wide variety of work made of yak butter might be seen near the forests surrounding the Mahabodhi Temple. Seeing them, I felt that I want I might see them made. Devotees are found absorbed in reverence close to the Bodhi tree, on the temple stairs and everywhere within the premises of this temple.
Some chant mantras with garlands of their hands, some sing hymns, others are engrossed in meditation, and a few are seen reading the manuscripts.
