What to do on the day of Phalguna Amavasya?

- It is considered auspicious to donate to the needy and poor on Phalgun Amavasya and the ancestors are happy as well.
- In the evening, light a mustard oil lamp near the Peepal tree. Then, revisit the tree 7 times, remembering the ancestors.
- On this day, offer Naivedyam in the form of urad dal, curd, and puri to Lord Shiva, fire god and Brahmins. Also anoint Lord Shiva with milk, curd, honey and black sesame seeds. This will please God.
- If financial problems are going on then offer Kheer to Lord Shiva on this day. By doing this these problems will be overcome.
To please the sun god, recite Surya Chalisa on this day. Also, light a lamp of ghee in the morning and chant their 12 names. - If Pitra Dosha is done then donate red sweet things.
What not to do on Phalguna Amavasya?
- Respect the parents and elders and do not insult anyone.
- Do not wear dark-colored clothes on this day. Women should not brush hair at night nor leave them open. It is believed that even evil powers roam the earth on Amavasya, in such a situation, it can be attracted to you by seeing the hairs open.
- Control your temper and maintain an atmosphere of peace at home as well.
- Stay away from meat and alcohol, especially on this day. Also, do not use tamasic things like onion, garlic and eat satvik food on this day.
- If you keep the fast, then follow Brahmacharya completely. If you want, you can also abstain on this day and do not consume salt in the fast.
- Especially on this day, darkness should not be kept in the house at all. There should be lights in the house even in the evening and night.
- Amavasya is a day of charity and charity, so if someone comes home on this day, do not return it empty.
Importance of Phalguna Amavasya
