Story of Phalguna Purnima
Daksha’s daughter Sati is married to Lord Shiva. When Daksha arrives in a yagya, all the gods stand up, but Brahma and Shiva remain seated. Daksha considers this to be his disgrace and for this reason Daksha curses Lord Shiva to be deprived of the yagya portion, using many atrocities against him. Daksha organizes a great yajna in his capital Kankhal, in which he invites all the gods, but does not invite Lord Shiva nor his daughter Sati.
When Mata Sati saw Rohini going in a plane with the moon, and through Rohini, when Mata Sati came to know that her father Daksha had organized a great yagya and had not invited her, she became distraught with Lord Shiva’s explanation. Despite this, she went to her father’s place with the ganas of Lord Shiva.
But there, when Mother Sati did not see the yagya-part of Lord Shiva, she raised a strong objection. King Daksha said derogatory words towards Lord Shiva, the husband of Sati. Due to which Mother Sati burnt her body in the fire of Yagya. When Lord Shiva got this news, he created Veerbhadra from his hair and Veerabhadra destroyed Daksha’s yajna and cut off Daksha’s head and burnt it in the Havan Kund.
Lord Shiva weeps like a cosmic man and wanders like a madman wearing Sati’s corpse on his head. Then Lord Vishnu cuts the corpse of Sati with Sudarshan Chakra respectively. In this way, due to the falling of various parts of Sati and ornaments at different places, those places become full of the glory of Shaktipeeth and thus 51 Shaktipeeths are formed. After this Lord Vishnu and Brahma ji persuaded Shiva ji. But Shiva ji took a strict resolution that he would never get married in future. But time passed and once Mata Parvati reached Mount Kailash to see Lord Shiva.
On the request of the gods, Kamadeva and Goddess Rati arrived on Mount Kailash to distract Lord Shiva and Kamadeva with his bow which is made of flowers, the bow of this bow is voiceless, meaning when Cupid releases the arrow from the command, he There is no sound, it means that decency is necessary in work. Arrow is the most important weapon of Cupid. It neither makes a sound nor gives the victim a chance to recover before anyone it pierces. Cupid pointed an arrow at the bow and left.
Lord Shiva’s attention was disturbed by the arrow of Kamadeva and Shiva became angry and he opened his third eye and consumed Kamadeva. In this way Rati lost her love and husband. Distraught with separation, Rati started moaning. Then Lord Shiva said that when I will be married to Parvati, Kamadeva will be alive on that Basant Purnima day and Kamadeva will become alive on Basant Purnima.
